In a seesaw game that seems likely to end in a draw, Angel City FC conceded a late goal at the 78' and fell to the visiting Washington Spirit 2-1. The Los Angeles squad now have a record of 6W-4D-12L and are in 10th place of the NWSL standings.

Despite missing their leading scorer Ouleymata Sarr (lumbar injury), USWNT's Trinity Rodman (Back Spasm) and defender Casey Krueger (adductor), Washington's attack kept Angel City FC's defense busy all night. The pressure cost a turnover on ACFC's defensive end leading to an Ashley Hatch goal in the 39'.

With no presence felt in the midfield during the first half, Angel City FC readjusted right after the halftime break. Fresh from scoring five goals in five games, striker Alyssa Thompson found space and went loose to deliver a low cross to striker Messiah Bright, who was at the right place and time to level the scoresheet at one apiece in the 51'.
The assist is Thompson's sixth in the 2024 NWSL Regular Season, while Messiah Bright scored her first goal in an Angel City kit.

Washington Spirit striker Rosemonde Kouassi's speed was a constant problem for any Angel City FC player marking her. Her pace was significant in their game winning goal.

An outlet pass from GK Aubrey Kingsbury on a counterattack was well received by the Ivory Coast international. With the smoothest of passes, Kouassi flicked the ball to Washington Spirit rookie Makenna Morris, a substitute, to score in the 78th and put the visitors ahead for good and to come up with an away win.
