Midge Purce, a Harvard University product, found Moultrie again in the 58th minute for her third assist of the evening. Purce sent a long low ball from outside the area for an unmarked Moultrie to finish.
Things turned from bad to worse for the Dominican Republic as defender Brianne Reed committed a foul in the penalty area on Jaedyn Shaw in the 86'. A VAR review showed the defender stepped on Shaw's boots with no intention of playing the ball. Defender Jenna Nighswonger calmly took the penalty giving the home team a commanding 4-0 lead.
Reed committed a foul in the penalty area again in injury time recklessly tackling USWNT striker Trinity Rodman. Soccer legend Alex Morgan converted the penalty for the fifth goal of the evening.
This was the future hall of famers first goal in about a year and wearing an unfamiliar number 7 as Concacaf rules dictate that a player must wear the number of the player they're replacing. Morgan was a late replacement after Mia Fischel tore her left ACL.
