"Untitled"

Sitting outside in LA cold

Conditions are fine

It’s just below 55

I’m fine on my own

And I don’t need you

But you say so anyway

Someone came along

Offered me a sweater

I shivered and shook my head,

“No, thank you.”

You said you’d bring one.

Someone came along

Offered me an umbrella

I shook my soggy hair like a wet dog,

“No, thank you.”

You said you’d bring one.

Someone came along

Offered me a warm coffee

I crinkled my eyes,

“No, thank you.”

You said you’d bring one.

Then you returned

With nothing in your hands

And I stood

With my heart in mine
