On the road and down by 20 points with 10 minutes remaining in the third quarter, the Minnesota Timberwolves relied on their league leading defensive rating to lock down and dethrone the Denver Nuggets 98-90.
Six Wolves players scored in double figures with Karl Anthony Towns and Jaden Mc Daniels leading the team with 23 apiece. But it was the Timberwolves suffocating defense that gave them a 41-17 run to cut the deficit and forced the Nuggets to miss 15 of their 21 shots.
After sweeping Kevin Durant and the Phoenix Suns in the first round and embarrassing the defending champion Denver Nuggets, the Timberwolves are now headed to the Western Conference Finals to face off against Luka Doncic and the Dallas Mavericks.
The Wolves Game 7 victory on the road is the largest comeback win in the past 25 seasons. Game 1 against the Mavs will be on Wednesday, May 22 at 5:30 in the evening at the Target Center in Minnesota. The game will be broadcasted live on TNT.
