JUNE 14 – AWARD WINNING DOCU FEATURE - “QUEENDOM” FOLLOWS RUSSIAN QUEER PERFORMANCE ARTIST - JENNA MARVIN - AS SHE STAGES CINEMATIC ANTI-PUTIN SHOWS ON MOSCOW STREETS - WHILE TRYING TO ESCAPE AND FIND A SAFER PLACE TO LIVE!

OPENS IN THEATERS AND ON-DEMAND JUNE 14, 2024 – NEW YORK/LOS ANGELES/SELECT CITIES AND EVERYWHERE YOU BUY/RENT FILMS FROM GREENWICH ENTERTAINMENT - RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF LGBTQ+ PRIDE MONTH

When art challenges social norms and fosters hard conversations, what happens to the artist?

QUEENDOM follows the journey of Russian born performance artist Jenna Marvin as she brings her art to the streets of Moscow in protest and defiance of Putin and his regime. Director Galdanova cinematically captures these staged public performances and police harassment along with the intimate and personal details of Jenna’s life and her urgent journey to leave her home country in search of a safer place.

Jenna, a queer artist from a small town in Russia, dresses in otherworldly costumes and protests the government on the streets of Moscow. Born and raised on the harsh streets of a frigid outpost of the Soviet gulag, Jenna stages radical and dangerous performances in public to change people’s perception of beauty and queerness and bring attention to the harassment of the LGBTQ+ community.

QUEENDOM is a breathtaking portrait of creative courage.

Empire Magazine praised the film - "AN URGENT REMINDER THAT ART CAN BE DANGEROUS"

Time Out Magazine called the film - "ONE OF THE BEST FILMS OF THE YEAR"

Sight and Sound Magazine hailed QUEENDOM - "EXTRAORDINARY - BOTH VISUALLY AND POLITICALLY"

JENNA a queer artist from a small town in Russia, dresses in otherworldly costumes made from junk and tape, and protests the government on the streets of Moscow. Born and raised on the harsh streets of Magadan, a frigid outpost of the Soviet gulag, Gena is only 21. She stages radical performances in public that become a new form of art and activism. By doing that, she wants to change people’s perception of beauty and queerness and bring attention to the harassment of the LGBTQ+ community. The performances - often dark, strange, evocative, and queer at their core - are a manifestation of Gena’s subconscious. But they come at a price.
