MAGNIFICO Rises from the Rubbles with a Devastating KO

Updated: Dec 10, 2023

(Fight Highlights by Sports Manda YT Channel)

When Mark "Magnifico" Magsayo (24-2,16 KO's) returned to the ring Saturday night as a 130 pound lightweight in CBN Promotions "New Blood" undercard, he was supremely confident, impeccably well-conditioned and determined to win. He will not be denied. I just saw it in his eyes.

With rock alternative anthem "PUSO" by Sponge Cola blasting the speakers at Infinite Reality Studios during his ring walk, the Filipinos know the man they call Magnifico has been doubted often and is carrying a chip on his shoulder waiting to unleash heavy artillery.

Anticipating the beautiful violence that is about to unfold, I closed my reporter's notebook and decided not to keep score. When the blood shed and gunfire is consensual between Magsayo and Mexico's Isaac Avelar (17-6, 10 KO's), who really needs scoring?

The pride of Tagbilaran City, Bohol, Magsayo has been training under the watchful eyes of Marvin Somodio since July of this year at the Wild Card Boxing Club. Their hardwork seems to have paid off as Magsayo fought with a rejuvinated footwork right from the opening bell. Magnifico' s punches carried bad intentions and were non stop, peppering Avelar with hooks, uppercuts and jabs knocking the Mexican down twice in the third round, with the second one delivered devastatingly with ninja like moves from Magsayo's favorite anime: NARUTO.

"I feel more comfortable in this weight class, my punches were stronger and I feel more hydrated...to my doubters, its okay, I will still continue to work hard." Magsayo said in Tagalog. With this statement win, the possibilities are open for the former WBC champ. For now let's have Magnifico enjoy this win as he celebrates it with his wife Frances and family. Welcome back Mark. Puso!
