Three, it’s a magic number.
Today is a trifecta of events for Angel City Football Club: St. Patrick’s Day, Women’s History Month, and its 2024 Home Opener at BMO stadium.
Now the highest-valued club of the NWSL, the club has come a long way since the last season.
For starters, ACFC is rocking a new look.
And while sibling rivalry is always entertaining to watch, ACFC has paired up the Thompsons for some sisterly bonding.
As for its fan base, ACFC has been attracting some of Los Angeles’ stars. From Vanessa Bryant to Jesse Tyler Ferguson to Jason Sudeikis, you’d almost think you were on the Warner Brothers Lot instead of BMO Stadium.

The club’s success is not without reason. In fact, there are three reasons why ACFC just keeps soaring to new heights: community, charity, and character.
The ACFC community is one you have to experience yourself. Out of any stadium I’ve been in, it’s the one I’ve felt the most welcome and safe.
Charity comes easily for ACFC. A partner of the Las Fotos Project, ACFC is always finding new ways to give back to the city they call home.
And the team never falls short of character. Fans can cite the historic win ACFC took last season against the Portland Thorns for a spot in the playoffs, who at the time was the #1 team in the league.
But like any great dish, there’s always some secret ingredient that elevates it beyond something common. This secret fourth thing isn’t luck or some form of divine intervention.
It’s grit. What ACFC exemplifies is the sheer amount of work and dedication it takes to get to the place they are today; the work and dedication it takes to try and touch the same greatness their male counterparts already have.
The journey the NWSL is on is still unfinished. But today’s opening game shows that we’re headed in the right direction. It’s been a long time coming.
Welcome back ACFC. Tangent has missed you.
