LAFC kicks off Filipino Heritage Night 2023

Updated: Jun 24, 2023

Recognizing the impact of the Filipino community here in LA, defending MLS Cup champions Los Angeles Football Club held its first ever Filipino Heritage Night in its home turf, the BMO stadium.

Organized by the Philippine Consulate General, over 200 Filipino LAFC fans in attendance were able to grab a limited edition heritage scarf that comes along with their specially priced tickets. “We sold out quick, and to my knowledge there are a lot of pinoys present here who are unable to avail of our package” says consul Francis Maleon.

Asked on why he picked LAFC to host the inaugural event, consul Maleon pointed out two reasons: “LAFC’s strength is like a baranggay in the Philippines, they built their structure from the grassroots level and from there they acquired people and treated them as extended family. The other is its stadium is closer to the Philippine Consulate and is nearer to the vast Filipino community here in LA.

Given the success of this event, LAFC is looking forward to make this an annual gathering to pay tribute to the support and loyalty of its Filipino fans.
