La Salle High School in Pasadena recently dispatched three academic decathlon teams to represent their school and the United States at the World Scholar’s Cup Global Rounds being held at University College of London’s Bloomsbury Theater from July 27-31, 2023.
The three teams from La Salle qualified after winning the Los Angeles round against various schools in the region participating in different academic disciplines. One of La Salle’s teams who aptly call themselves “Trail Mix”, were crowned as overall champions with Katareena Roska bagging first in writing, Arthur Camara first in debate & Jackson Simone finishing 6th respectively.

The World Scholar’s Cup is an academic competition that goes beyond traditional rote learning and embraces a holistic approach to knowledge. Divided into four main events, including Team Debate, Collaborative Writing, Scholar’s Bowl, and Scholar’s Challenge, the competition pushes students to think critically, communicate effectively, and work collaboratively.
The Global Rounds in London will serve as the culmination of months of hard work and dedication. Held in an atmosphere of camaraderie and intellectual curiosity, this event will foster a global community of learners and encourage students to forge connections with peers from diverse cultural backgrounds.
