With another crosstown rivalry classic in the books and an MLS record capacity crowd of 82,000 people in attendance at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, LA galaxy won the “el traffico” match this time around against their bitter rivals LAFC, 2-1.
In what could be a season turnaround win for the Galaxy, Riqui Puig and company showed poise and composure by drawing first blood in the first half courtesy of a Tyler Boyd screamer in the 26th minute.
Like all “El Traffico” matches that are filled with end to end action, this too was a nail biter. In the 57th minute, while the LA Galaxy defenders went ball watching, defensive midfield Ilie Sánchez found the back of the net with a stunning header off a corner kick to level the score 1-1.
As both teams try to establish dominance, it was a Riqui Puig goal in the 73rd minute that placed the LA Galaxy squad ahead 2-1 and put themselves in the win column keeping their season hopes alive.
