In an unforgettable performance, Clippers forward Kawhi Leonard was impeccable, returning to his all-star form to lead the Clippers to an exhilarating 105-102 victory over the Denver Nuggets, leveling the Western Conference first round at one game each.
The Klaw finished with 39 points in 39 minutes, hitting 15 of 19 shots from the field, with his jump shot at 54.5 seconds left clinching the victory. “I made shots tonight,” Leonard said. “I just keep playing, try to stay in the zone no matter if I’m making or missing shots.”
Nikola Jokic, one of only three players to average a triple-double for a season, recorded 26 points, 12 rebounds, and 10 assists. Jamal Murray added 23 points for the Nuggets, who also saw a solid performance from Michael Porter Jr., contributing 15 points and 15 rebounds after his 3-point effort in Game 1.
The fifth-seeded Clippers leaned on Kawhi's outstanding play to capture the homecourt advantage from the fourth-seeded Nuggets in the series. Kawhi secured the game's last basket with a 21-foot jumper and executed a crucial steal in the final minute from a poor pass by Nikola Jokic.
Game 3 is scheduled for Thursday, April 24, in Los Angeles, and will broadcast live on NBA TV and Bally Sports SoCal starting at 7pm Pacific time.
