The Los Angeles Clippers handed the Brooklyn Nets their largest loss in franchise history with a 126-67 win last Wednesday at the Intuit Dome in Inglewood, California.
Playing under a team-imposed minutes restriction, Kawhi Leonard spearheaded the Clippers, scoring 23 points in his season best, logging 24 minutes of playing time.
Despite missing its key players, the Nets were able to keep pace and were tied at 21 after the first quarter, but the Clippers turned up the heat in the second stanza, locking down their defense and limiting the Nets to just 35 points by halftime. By the third quarter, the game was beyond reach as the Clippers maintained their dominance, overwhelming the Nets with a 44-16 run.
Former Nets star James Harden shone against his old team, tallying 21 points and 11 assists. Harden, known as The Beard, also made history by surpassing Dominique Wilkins for 15th place on the NBA's all-time scoring list, having accumulated 26,681 points over his impressive 16-year career.
Jalen Wilson led the Nets with 16 points and three rebounds, while the injury-depleted Brooklyn squad, with seven players sidelined, faced offensive challenges, managing only 30% shooting from the field and failing to make 23 of their 28 three-point attempts.
The Clippers have secured two consecutive home victories and are heading to Portland for their first back-to-back games. Due to the NBA's rescheduling and postponements caused by the LA fires, they will play five games next week, including two sets of back-to-back contests.
