LOS ANGELES- The last time Mexico beat the United States in women's soccer was in the year 2010. It was during that time when crypto currency giant Bitcoin was still priced at $0.30.

But that was 14 years ago. A lot of things have changed. The Bitcoin now is valued at $56,900 and so is the stock of the Mexican women's national soccer team.

The U.S. entered the game with 40 wins-1loss -1 draw all time against its rival, with its only previous loss a 2-1 decision in the Women's World Cup qualifying in 2010.

The "El Tri Femenil" played with grit, hunger and passion as the Americans had 62% ball possession. Their patience paid off in the 38th minute mark after U.S. defender Becky Sauerbrunn failed to clear the ball bouncing off Lizbeth Ovalle. The Mexican was calm, cool and collected scooping the ball into the net to beat keeper Alyssa Naeher.
See it again...In Spanish this time:
The lack of creativity on the US side was evident as they could not capitalize a real shot on target even after completing 464 passes. Then one minute into stoppage time, substitute Mayra Pelayo, who played only 15 minutes, weaved and cooked Midge Purce's defense to score on what could be the goal of the tournament.
In Spanish por favor...
Despite the setback, the USWNT still advances to the quarterfinals of the tournament, finishing second in Group A behind Mexico.
