ANGEL CITY FOOTBALL CLUB ANNOUNCES ANGEL CITY 7S ROSTER FOR THE SOCCER TOURNAMENT

US National Team Legends Saskia Webber and Cobi Jones to Coach; Matches Begin Tomorrow, June 7th at 12:30 pm ET/9:30 am PT

LOS ANGELES (June 6, 2024) - Angel City Football Club (ACFC) today officially announced the Angel City 7s full roster of players for The Soccer Tournament (TST), the 7v7 winner-take-all competition taking place June 7-10 at WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary, NC.

The Angel City 7s will begin group play in the eight-team inaugural women’s bracket against Wrexham at 12:30 p.m. EST/9:30 a.m. PST on Friday, June 7th. Later that day, their second group stage game will kick off at 7:30 p.m. EST/4:30 p.m. PST against US Women. Their final group stage match will be against Streetball Canada FC on Saturday, June 8 at 10:00 p.m. EST/7:00 p.m. PST.  All of the Angel City 7s’ games will be available to stream at thetournament.com.

Coaching the Angel City 7s will be US National Team legends and ACFC founding investors Saskia Webber, who will serve as head coach, and Cobi Jones, who will be the team’s assistant coach.

“This ACFC TST squad is stacked with pros eager to show up on this huge platform,” said Webber. “Bringing home the trophy and the $1 million prize is our only goal, and I have no doubt this team can achieve it. The commitment that the players have had to train has been beyond impressive.”

Should the Angel City 7s win the five-match tournament, the $1 million winner-take-all prize money will be split between the players and Angel City’s impact work with LA Department of Recreation and Parks, building access to no-cost soccer for girls and gender expansive youth, ages 5-17.

The Angel City 7s roster is made up of an array of 14 prospects, former and current players representing national teams, and current and former players from pro club teams around the world.

Of some members of the squad, Webber said, “Kat Hess is a pure shot stopper. With Captain Dominique Randle’s’ defensive 1v1 strength and organization, Marley Canales’ calmness on the ball and ability to find feet and spaces on the pass in midfield, and Samie Scaffidi’s eye for the goal and quick trigger are just to name a few of the stellar players we have.”
