LOS ANGELES---Considered as one of the most lethal strikers in the world today, ACFC and Scotland National Team striker Claire Emslie found herself on the scoresheet twice as Angel City FC won its first home game against North Carolina Courage 2-0.

North Carolina pretty much controlled the game’s tempo at 63% ball possession, but it was ACFC's counter attacking plays that took centerstage in front of a sold-out BMO stadium.

A set piece on the 22nd minute after Alyssa Thompson was fouled just in front of the penalty box allowed Emslie to set up one of her dead ball masterpieces. The Scottish international calmly delivered a curling ball over the NC courage wall and inches away from GK Casey Murphy to save.
Teenage sensation Alyssa Thompson found herself involved again in the 54th minute. A short pass from midfielder Lily Nabet found Thomspon in the midfield. Thompson then threaded the ball into the courage defense for Emslie to chip the ball over GK Murphy’s head for her second goal.

It might not be the prettiest goal sequence, but NC Courage finally pulled one back in the 73rd minute from a set piece by defender Feli Rauch. Her free kick unfortunately found striker Tyler Lussi’s knee to score at a very close range making it impossible for ACFC GK Didi Haracic to save.
For scoring a brace, Claire Emslie was named player of the match. Angel City FC will face Kansas City Current at home in LA on Friday, April 26 at 7PM.
