Angel City FC escaped a 2-1 thriller against the Chicago Red Stars by scoring a goal in the 91st minute of stoppage time at the BMO stadium here in Los Angeles.
An outlet pass from midfielder Rocky Rodriguez found a sprinting M.A. Vignola,who then crafted a beautiful cross to Sydney Leroux. The seasoned veteran striker calmly one timed and placed the ball past Red Stars GK Alyssa Naeher and seal the win for the home team.

Deflecting credit, Leroux, the US Women's National Team Soccer legend praised defender Vignola's effort in making the pass. " “I know exactly what M.A [Vignola] is going to do. She's going to drive and bully her way. She's going to put in a beautiful cross and I have to be there. I was there and it was a good goal. Overall, I'm really proud of us for getting the three points.”

Early in the first half, ACFC teen sensation Alyssa Thompson continued her scoring form as she scored her third goal in two games off a rebound in the 6th minute mark from midfielder Meggie Dougherty Howard's shot. The 6' goal is the earliest regular season goal in club history and is Thompson's seventh career NWSL regular season goal.
Midfielder Bea Franklin scored the lone goal for the visiting Chicago Red Stars in the 55th minute off an assist from defender Natalia Kuikka. USWNT gold medalist Mallory Swanson contributed by starting the play off a set piece.
The win puts Angel City FC in 9th place with 21 points tied with crosstown rivals Bay FC.
